The Madison school board on Monday approved hiring two teachers, one of whom will begin laying the groundwork for a possible orchestra program.
Marcie Zeckner, who previously taught in Kentucky, was hired to teach elementary music. Superintendent Jim Hartley said in addition to teaching general music, she will begin the preliminary steps of launching an orchestra program, probably working with interested fourth- and fifth-graders during the lunch hour in the second and third trimesters of this year.
She replaces Donna Bytwork, who is retiring.
Hartley said Zeckner completed her undergraduate studies at Ohio University and her graduate work at the University of Cincinnati conservatory.
