For the second time this week, actress Meryl Streep has donated $10,000 for the benefit of a R.I. educational program dear to her friend, Central Falls native Viola Davis.
"I was pleasantly surprised," said Mariam Z. Boyajian, director of Upward Bound, a program housed at Rhode Island College that helps low-income high school students to attend college. On Monday, Boyajian discovered the check from Streep's Silver Mountain Foundation for the Arts.
