Michigan district moves ahead with new museum-focused school

As expected, the Grand Rapids Board of Education on Tuesday, Sept. 2, unanimously approved the proposal for the new Grand Rapids Public Museum School, planned for the 2015-16 school year.

Last week, the board's Academic Achievement Committee received a comprehensive presentation on what school Superintendent Teresa Weatherall Neal described as "a cutting-edge instructional model and dynamic new school choice for children in and around Grand Rapids."

"I think it is going to get national attention," said School Board President Wendy Falb, who added the application was robust. That's an indication of the school's "richness and depth."
