Michigan district taps Thompson for top position

The school board has chosen Robyne Thompson as the next superintendent of East Lansing Public Schools.

The board voted 5-0 Wednesday to offer the position to Thompson, who is currently executive director for secondary education for the Ann Arbor Public Schools.

She was one of three finalists for the job. Others included Aaron Johnson, director of Secondary Curriculum, Assessment, Instruction and Technology for the Grosse Pointe Public School System; and Bart Wegenke, principal at Haslett High School.
