Michigan House OKs More Cyber Charters

The Michigan House today narrowly approved a controversial bill that would expand the number of cyber charter schools in Michigan โ€“ bill that was strongly opposed by the traditional K-12 education establishment.

The bill โ€“ passed by the Senate last year โ€“ would eliminate current caps on the number of students who can enroll in cyber charters and the number of cyber schools that can exist.

Current law limits enrollment to 400 in the first year and a maximum of 1,000 in subsequent years. Only two such charters can exist.
