Lead2Feed: The World Hunger Leadership Challenge is a student leadership program, created by the Lift a Life Foundation and the USA TODAY Charitable Foundation with assistance from the Yum! Foundation, to encourage middle and high school students to hone leadership skills by launching a service-learning project that solves hunger issues.

The program includes a10–lesson, standards-based curriculum provided to participating teachers on the topic of leadership — based on the award winning book, Taking People With You, by Yum! Brands CEO, David Novak.  The lessons are easy to implement and require minimal teacher preparation.  Students will work in teams to study leadership qualities, identify a hunger-related problem, develop a solution and execute their plan.  The electronic edition of USA TODAY will also accompany the curriculum as a resource.

As students develop leadership skills, they may also compete nationally to win $500,000 in prizes for a public 501(c)(3) non-profit hunger charity of their choice. One winning team will receive $25,000 for their hunger charity, 10 winning teams will receive $5,000 each for their hunger charity and 425 teams will receive $1,000 each for their hunger charity.  The Challenge ends March 29, 2013.
