The Board of Education approved $943,000 in spending this month to pay for new bathrooms, a new gym floor, doors, security systems, telephones, handicap access ramps, and windows, Business Administrator Barry Parliman said.
The board approved the use of $500,000 in capital funds and an additional $443,111 in the form of a lease purchase agreement to pay for the school's share of the construction projects. The district was responsible for a 25 percent share of a $3.7 million state Schools Development Authority spending plan, Parliman said. The Schools Development Authority distributes billions of dollars each year to districts for construction and facilities projects.
However, the projects will cost only half of the $3.7 million originally set aside, said Parliman. Contractors agreed to do the work for $1.8 million, he said.
