New Charter School Planned in Milwaukee

A charter school to train high-schoolers for technical and engineering jobs could occupy the first floor of a planned 43-unit affordable apartment project the Northwest Side Community Development Corp. is proposing on West Capitol Drive in Milwaukee.

Also this week, we have a Milwaukee County Board member’s response to criticism from Badger Meter Inc. chief executive officer Rich Meeusen on how the county handles land sales.

The Northwest Side CDC’s five-story school and apartment building is proposed at the corner of West Capitol Drive and North 31st Street, where a Ned’s Pizza restaurant stands now. The estimated $9.1 million project is a collaboration between the Northwest Side CDC, affordable housing developer Gorman & Co. Inc., Oregon, Wis., and TransCenter for Youth Inc., which would operate the school.
