New Haven names finalists for superintendent of schools

Two out-of-state educators and an assistant superintendent of schools for the district are the finalists in the running to replace retiring schools chief Reginald Mayo.

The Board of Education announced the names of the three finalists in a press release Thursday.

Two of the candidates, Dred Scott, of Independence, Mo., and Kriner Cash, of Memphis, Tenn., were chosen from outside of the district. The other finalist, Garth Harries, assistant superintendent for portfolio and performance management for New Haven Public Schools, has more than three years of experience within the district.
