In addition to a multitude of construction projects and repairs made over the summer, the Bayonne school district has upgraded its internet infrastructure by going wireless.
"We are on the brink of going wireless. Some elementary schools are already up," said Richard Baccarella, principal of Bayonne High School.
"The Wi-Fi allows absolute mobility. This is the last year that juniors will take the HSPA (High School Proficiency Assessment). Next year they will take the PARCC (Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers) test online," said Baccarella.
The wireless arrangement does away with the traditional pencil-and-paper tests.
