Tounya Clayton Wright has been named director of Hillside New Tech High School, a small STEM high school in Durham, N.C. Wright was appointed to the post by the Durham Public Schools Board of Education on Oct. 25.
She previously served as the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Hillside High School. Wright began her education career as an elementary school counselor and principal intern at C.C. Spaulding Elementary. She has a master’s in agency counseling, along with licenses in school administration and academically/intellectually gifted education, from N.C. Central University.
