New Mexico students get early start on school year with K-3 Plus

Monday marked the second week of school for about 1,600 Las Cruces Public Schools children participating in 25 extra days of learning through the K-3 Plus Program.

An additional 700 Las Cruces students are taking part this year, at Valley View and Loma Heights elementary schools, due to increased state funding.

"It's a really good time for kids to come back and ease their way back into school in a smaller atmosphere," Valley View Principal Sharon Robinson said.
