Newton, Mass. Elementary School PTO raises $72,000 for technology

Recognizing that Countryside was woefully behind other elementary schools in incorporating technology into the curriculum, parent co-chairs Karen Weissel and Jamie LeBlanc launched CSTech, modeling it after successful technology campaigns at Cabot and Mason Rice. Donations were received from Countryside families as well as friends, relatives, neighbors, alumni and matching gift employers, showing a shared commitment to the school, children and community. The money raised allowed the school to purchase laptops, desktops, iPads and other accessories, more than doubling Countryside’s existing computing capabilities.
