N.H. superintendent chosen to lead Connecticut district

The Sterling Board of Education this week chose an award-winning administrator as its new superintendent.

Brenda Needham, a veteran educator who has served as superintendent in several New England schools, including East Granby, will begin the job in August. She is superintendent at the Rivendell Interstate School District in New Hampshire now and is a past executive director at New England League of Middle Schools and former president of the New England Association of School Superintendents.

The Vermont legislature, citing Needham's "superb professional reputation," leadership skills and focus on children in the Windsor school district, named her the state's Superintendent of the Year in 2007.
