Taking on the role of superintendent for the Salem County Vocational Technical School and Special Services School Districts can seem like a daunting task.
The combined districts include four schools and several satellite programs sprawling throughout Salem and Cumberland counties, serving more than 1,000 students.
However, Mannington Township School Principal John “Jack” Swain said he’s not just up for the challenge, he’s excited for it.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge of a big district and having a vision for the programs going on there, and ways to improve upon those programs,” Swain said. “That’s what I’d like my legacy to be some day. I want to be an educator looked upon as someone who tried to come in and make programs better for students and staff.”
