The School Committee named John Provost, currently the superintendent of the North Brookfield Public Schools, as the city's new superintendent Tuesday night.
Laurie Casna, the director of personnel and student services at the Pembroke Public Schools, was also under consideration. None of the committee members recommended the third finalist, Jordana Harper-Ewert, who is the chief schools officer for Springfield Public Schools.
Several committee members cited the energy Casna displayed during the selection process, which included a public forum and a meeting with school teachers and other staff. In the end, however, Provost, the only finalist with experience as a superintendent, got the nod.
