N.Y. lawmakers seek support for career and tech high school diploma

Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi and State Sen. David Valesky conducted an event in Albany Thursday to push Brindisi’s 21st Century Education Initiative as the pathway to success for young people who want a career in manufacturing or high-tech fields.

The two legislators said they have over 65 sponsors for the bills, which would overhaul the current diploma standard within the state Board of Regents and the state Department of Education.

The bills would create a new specialized career and technical diploma, which will train students to fill the many available jobs in New York in manufacturing and high-tech fields.
