Four high school math teachers in Hillsboro involved in a pilot study on the use of technology in the classroom presented their findings to the public last month.
The June 16 panel discussion, attended by 30 or so educators and parents, offered the teachers a chance to explain what worked and what didn't concerning the use of Chromebook and free online materials instead of textbooks during the six-week pilot.
One teacher from each of Hillsboro's comprehensive high schools took part in the six-week pilot study that ended May 28. The goal was to determine how well students respond to using Chromeooks. Each class was equipped with enough of the lightweight laptops for every student.
