Ousted Pa. education secretary lands job as temporary superintendent

Despite his ouster as the secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Education in late August, former Cumberland Valley School District Superintendent William Harner has landed another top school district post, temporarily.

Harner was named interim superintendent of the Quakertown Community School District Thursday night. He will fill the post from Jan. 24 through June 30. He is filling in for Superintendent Lisa Andrejko, who will retire in July. Until then, Andrejko is taking leave for health purposes, according to the district.

It's unclear whether Harner's appointment could become permanent, as neither he nor members of the Quakertown School Board could immediately be reached for comment. It's also unclear how much he is earning in the position.
