Parent sues school system to carry weapon at Atlanta school

There are several lawsuits pending in metro Atlanta demanding that licensed gun owners be allowed to take their weapon onto public school property. The latest suit has been filed by a parent in Gwinnett County.

The problem is there were two gun laws passed this year – the so-called "guns everywhere" law, House Bill 60, and the lesser-known House Bill 826.

HB 826 has created all the legal confusion and the challenge in the courts. That law allows a licensed gun owner to bring a weapon on school property – and that's what one Gwinnett County parent wanted to do.
