There are several lawsuits pending in metro Atlanta demanding that licensed gun owners be allowed to take their weapon onto public school property. The latest suit has been filed by a parent in Gwinnett County.
The problem is there were two gun laws passed this year – the so-called "guns everywhere" law, House Bill 60, and the lesser-known House Bill 826.
HB 826 has created all the legal confusion and the challenge in the courts. That law allows a licensed gun owner to bring a weapon on school property – and that's what one Gwinnett County parent wanted to do.
