ParentLink® announces iPad support in new app update

In celebration of the 100th branded district app entering the app store, ParentLink® is announcing iPad support for its popular Branded District App, including new features that provide more information to parents. District app users will now be able to navigate and organize more efficiently through calendar events, native cafeteria menus and directories.

Calendar events now provide more complete event information. District and school administrators can attach documents containing specific details to calendar events for parents and students to view. Event evaluations, event notes and the ability to add links to calendar event descriptions will help improve communication flow in each school district using a ParentLink® smartphone or iPad® app.

"The new iPad features will be extremely helpful to the Rowland Unified School District.” said Gina Ward, Rowland Unified School District’s public information officer. “We have multiple schools that have iPad carts for all students, and our parents and community members have been asking for these custom features. Having new event functions also really excites us since parents will be able to use them for the next school year."

With the new cafeteria menu updates, students and parents can now quickly access daily meal options through ParentLink®’s new native menu feature. District faculty members just have to upload the schedule, allowing district app users to natively view exactly what is being served for lunch each day.

“Lunch menus are the number one hit on our website,” said Annette Eyman, Papillion-La Vista School District’s director of communications. “To have the menu display shown in a native format on our district app is something parents love and will be one of the draws for parents to download the app.”

The updated resources feature provides more efficient organization allowing easy navigation and customization. Directory settings can now also be custom organized by each user.

These features will be rolled out to current app clients over the coming weeks. ParentLink® Branded District Apps are used in over 100 districts to make communication easier for educators, students and parents. The apps provide all the public information families need about their schools, as well as student specific information, such as grades and attendance.
