Pennsylvania district names superintendent finalist

The Reading School Board has put a name and face to its finalist for the district's next superintendent.

The school board started with 25 qualified candidates and narrowed the search down to Khalid Mumin, who was introduced to the media during a news conference at the district administration building in center city Monday morning.

"Everything we learned about the individual; he has the utmost integrity, he clearly has a passion for children, clearly has a passion to be in Reading and for the Reading School District, his belief in transparency, his ability to work with the public and build partnerships," said John George, executive director, Berks County Intermediate Unit, and temporary superintendent for Reading.
