Plattsmouth (Neb.) School Staff Unveil 1:1 Laptop Technology Proposal

Wednesday, January 9, 2013

Members of a Plattsmouth Community Schools technology committee have proposed integrating laptop computers into district classrooms beginning in the 2014-15 academic year.

The committee’s proposal calls for all K-12 teachers to receive laptops next year and high school students to receive computers the following academic year. There would be a ratio of one computer to one student at the high school. The computer-to-student ratio would be 2:1 at the middle school and 3:1 at elementary levels.

Committee members presented their vision at the most recent Plattsmouth Board of Education meeting and also discussed the plan with The Journal. Plattsmouth High School Principal Jeff Wiles said the committee believes the initiative would make a significant positive educational impact if it is adopted.
