Poll Say Common Core Allows Fed to Drive Education Agenda in Ala.

Sixty percent of readers believe Alabama's use of common core curriculum standards allows the federal government to drive the state's K-12 education agenda.

A total of 508 readers responded to the unscientific AL.com poll taken as Republican legislators push bills that would repeal the common core in Alabama.

Additionally, 77 percent of respondents said ceding control to Washington would have a negative impact, regardless of whether they thought the common core gave away control.

Just 118 respondents, 23 percent, thought ceding control to the federal government would be a good thing.
