Poughkeepsie Parents Push for Music In Schools

“The school board needs to get behind the music program,” said Kimberly Nissen-Foley, parent of a seventh-grade student in the high school jazz band.

Ralph Coates, president of the Poughkeepsie school board, said the district has no plans to roll back the district music curriculum and is looking to enhance it.

“This board has let it be known that music and arts are a very important part of our district and we will preserve it at all costs,” he said.
