The idea was to design a vehicle that would be faster than all others and that would travel farther than all others -- using the materials provided.
The project would require design work to draw up a blueprint and then improve it. It would also require some engineering skill, in order to maximize the distance and the speed that the vehicle could attain.
That sounds like introductory course work for college engineering. Earlier this month, it was classwork for 6th and 7th graders at Portage Central Middle School.
