Public Input Sought in Search for N.Y. Superintendent

How important is it to hire a school superintendent who is an effective communicator? Or is being an experienced educator more important?

Maybe have having financial or fiscal experience is paramount. Or being committed to a “student first” philosophy or being fluent in Spanish is essential.

The Poughkeepsie City School District is asking community residents to rate which of nine characteristics are important in seeking to hire the next superintendent.

“Any input from the community is going to be very helpful to us as we go through this tedious process,” school board President Ralph Coates said. “Any feedback will help in selecting our next superintendent.”
