Recovery plan would cut 148 employees in Ohio district

The Mansfield City School District Financial Planning and Supervision Commission approved a draft of a recovery plan Tuesday that would cut 148 employees — including all staff at Springmill Learning Center — close Newman Elementary School and make a number of other changes within the district.

The recovery plan calls for the elimination of 87 teachers, four administrators, four tutors and 53 support staff, which includes secretaries, paraprofessionals and custodians.

Conversion community schools also would close under the plan.
