Bluestone Elementary in Euclid is considering same-sex classrooms for students.

Bluestone Elementary Principle Linda Knight addressed a group of parents at an open community meeting Tuesday night about the proposed idea and answered parent questions.

"This is an idea that we have had for the past couple of years, in terms of providing an option for parents," she said. "Research points to having students (in same-sex classrooms) as a way to enhance learning and provide students with increased academic opportunities in the classroom void of distractions."

Bluestone is interested in having one all-boys classroom, one all-girls classroom, and two co-ed classrooms in the second, third, fourth and fifth grades.
