The Missouri House today placed limits on the private, nonsectarian school transfer option in a measure modifying the school transfer law when it backed the bill.
The House passed the bill tonight by a vote of 91-64 after about three hours of debate. The bill would modify the 1993 transfer law requiring unaccredited school districts to pay tuition and provide transportation for students who want to attend an accredited school in the same or adjacent county.
The Senate passed its own version of the bill in February. Any differences between the House and the Senate version would need to be reconciled before the measure is sent to the governor.
