Several Wis. districts to receive state grants for enhanced STEM courses

Four school districts in the Madison area have been awarded state grants to enhance course offerings in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).

The area districts are four of 15 districts in Wisconsin sharing $250,000 in STEM funding for the 2014-15 school year, according to a news release from the Department of Public Instruction.

"STEM education is vital to our students and the future," said State Superintendent of Schools Tony Evers. "These fields hold so much potential as the source of innovation and entrepreneurship that drive economic development and the knowledge-based economy."
