A sharper eye on Florida transfers

Students leaving one school to enroll in another for scholastic or athletic reasons usually receive a wink and a nod, as if we all know what’s going on but don’t want to say it out loud. The winking and nodding increased after 2012, when Florida legislators made transfers within county school districts easier and let incoming athletes be immediately eligible for play at their new school.

The number of transfers statewide increased, too.

Still, student transfers in Okaloosa County didn’t grab much attention until recently.
