Twenty-one school districts across Tennessee were recognized on Monday for raising student growth and closing the achievement gap on state tests during the 2011-12 school year.

School districts in West Tennessee that achieved the state’s highest status of “exemplary” are Fayette County, Henry County, Hollow Rock-Bruceton Schools, McKenzie Special, Milan Special, South Carroll County Special and Union City Schools.

Department of Education Commissioner Kevin Huffman praised teachers and students for their hard work during an event in Sevierville.
