Springfield (Mo.) Public Schools Limits Times Students Can Charge Lunch

Citing an excessive number of unpaid student lunch charges, the Springfield school district has capped the number of times a student can charge starting Feb. 4.

The district posted information about the change on its website, www.springfieldpublicschoolsmo.org, and sent out an AlertNow message to parents.

In both, the district made it clear that elementary students who don’t have money to pay for lunch will be able to charge twice and middle and high school students in the same situation can charge once.“We want to make sure every student is able to eat at lunch but that balance is mounting,” said district spokeswoman Teresa Bledsoe.
