Introducing young children to nonfiction reading opens their eyes to the world around them and beyond. With All in a Rainforest Day, a new hardcover nonfiction book published by EdTechLens Publishing, vivid photography and science-related vocabulary entice children, preschool to grade 3, to learn about the animals, plants, and climate found in the world’s tropical rainforests. The book is written by Ellen B. Senisi, author and photographer of children’s photo essay books, with photography by Thomas Marent, a world-renowned wildlife photographer.
“Literacy has been, and always will be, at the forefront of educational standards,” said Senisi. “Our All in a Rainforest Day encourages children to read by using attention-grabbing visuals and age-level appropriate text, while introducing new vocabulary in the sciences.”
The 31-page hardcover book leads children through a guided tour of a typical day in a rainforest. Flipping through its glossy pages, readers will find close-up photographs of several of the rainforest’s many species, including monkeys, birds, frogs, and insects.
The photographs also capture the sweeping landscapes of the rainforest, including all four of its layers—emergent, canopy, understory and forest floor—and introduces these topics to children.
The final page of the All in a Rainforest Day is a full glossary of the rainforest vocabulary used in the book, the identification of the photographed species and a list of the rainforest locations pictured.
All in a Rainforest Day MSRP’s for $17.95 and the book can be purchased at www.edtechlens.com/rainforest-day or on Amazon, Follett and Brodart.
