Superintendent Patricia Howell to retire from California district

Patricia Howell, Lowell Joint School District’s superintendent for the last eight years, has announced she will retire in early November.

“After 40 years in education, and my husband is older than I am, we decided it was time to do some other things we’d like to do,” said Howell, 62, of Mission Viejo. “It may be teaching part-time at a college.”

Howell and her husband, Jerry, who already is retired, plan to move to Tucson, Ariz.
