Superintendent resigning for post in Springfield

Liberty superintendent John Jungmann is leaving for the top job with Springfield Public Schools.

Jungmann took over as Liberty superintendent in July after being promoted from deputy superintendent. He will complete his contract, which expires June 30, the district said.

Jungman, who has been with the Liberty district 20 months, said he applied for the Springfield position because a move to southwest Missouri would put him closer to family. Jungmann grew up in Lamar.
