Texas district's superintendent hired two weeks before school starts

Exactly one week before school started at Coppell ISD, Mike Waldrip began his first day as chief over the district.

Coppell ISD’s Board of Trustees unanimously approved Waldrip as the district’s new superintendent during a special meeting Aug. 14. It included a three-year contract and an annual salary of $240,000.

Waldrip, former deputy superintendent of administrative operations for Frisco ISD, started work four days later.
