U.S. DOE awards $3.67 million for Kansas schools

The U.S. Department of Education awarded another $3.67 million last week to help struggling Kansas schools.

The federal School Improvement Grant program targets schools with persistent lower academic achievement and aims to bolster their resources.

Last Monday the education department announced another $39 million in school improvement funds for seven states: Kansas, Colorado, Indiana, Massachusetts, New Mexico, Utah and Washington.

In Kansas, the funds will go first to the Kansas State Department of Education, which doles them out on a competitive basis.
