Using data to keep kids in school

Spokane School District’s Chief Academic Officer, Steven Gering, had a mission: Identify and engage with struggling teens early enough to keep them from dropping out of high school.

With nearly 30,000 students, 45 schools and close to 3,500 employees, the task of battling the district’s 33 percent dropout rate called for a solution that could be placed in the hands of every staff member that interacted with students so they could have the power to drive change.
