Yonkers, N.Y., delegation agrees with state bailout for school system

The state Legislature's Yonkers delegation is on board with a two-part bailout for the city's troubled school district, calling on Mayor Mike Spano to put out a specific plan on how he plans to implement the relief package.

The package was included in the state budget agreement, which is being voted on today, in exchange for Yonkers agreeing to put together a plan to consolidate non-academic services between the city and its school system. Sen. George Latimer, D-Rye, who also represents a portion of Yonkers, is also on board with the relief package, according to his spokesman.
