D-Link and TCEA Announce "Secure Your Schools" IP Surveillance

D-Link and Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) announced the “Secure Your Schools” Grant Program, which will award a single qualifying school or district with a complete D-Link IP surveillance system. Applications are being accepted now through Dec. 31, and the winning school or district will be announced in an awards ceremony at TCEA 2012.

Jurupa (Calif.) Unified School District to Save $34 Million Through Largest K12 Solar and Energy Efficiency Program in Riverside County

Jurupa Unified School District and Chevron Energy Solutions are embarking on a 2.7 megawatt solar and energy efficiency project to save the district $34 million. The project will add solar photovoltaic panels mounted on parking shade structures at nine campuses; replace 400 air conditioning units, most of them more than 20 years old; and upgrade more than 21,000 lighting fixtures.

Ameresco’s Energy Efficiency Project with Farwell Area Schools Recognized by Michigan Economic Development Corporation

Ameresco, Inc. announced that its Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC) with Farwell Area Schools received an award from the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). The school district has reduced its carbon footprint by over 18 percent and created nearly $44,000 in annual savings.

Should Vote On Winchester (Va.) Public Schools Education Tech Plan Wait?

With six incumbents on their way out, the lame duck Winchester (Va.) School Board has a lot to get done between now and Christmas. They're wrapping up a two-year review of all of the School Board policies, they are expected to adopt new attendance boundaries for the future Frederick Douglass Elementary School, and as early as this Tuesday, they will vote to give school system staff direction on a five-year technology plan.
