In all, the planned and proposed capital projects could total more than $50 million over a five-year period, and would defer any further roofing projects for 15 to 20 years, said Patrick J. Sullivan, the city’s director of buildings and facilities. Proposed projects include new roofs at 18 additional schools through 2016.

The property, according to Reuters, has been barricaded to keep members of the public and media away. Security guards also are monitoring the site. Workers have reportedly signed confidentiality agreements banning them from discussing any aspects of the work.

Each school district’s goal was to supply every student with a tablet and integrate it into their existing curriculum and technology. NCCISD has completed this goal, outfitting all 300 students in the district. MISD supplied their entire sixth grade of 1,600 students with LearnPads as part of a multi-year integration of 1:1.
