Seven Adelanto Elementary School District officials visited a handful of Miami public schools earlier this month, inspiring preparations for the opening of the California district's newest STEM school. The main building of the new $133 million Essex Technical High School measures three football fields in length. Clad in laminated wood veneer panels, it has the scale of an airport terminal. The building is large primarily because it’s four schools, or academies, in one. Read more>>

This isn't your father's language lab. Since the beginning of the school year, the approximately 750 students of Somerville High School in Massachusetts who study Mandarin, Italian, Spanish, French, and Portuguese have been taking lessons in a state-of-the-art interactive learning lab with slick Apple-computer work stations. Elkridge Patch

The Howard County Public School System, in Columbia, Md., has begun outfitting its school buses with new digital camera systems. Four cameras are being installed on each bus, two in the front, one in the middle, and one in the back. The cameras will allow administrators to review incidents on the buses. Read more>>
