School superintendents across the nation are bracing for the deep cuts of sequestration, the federal policy consequence for continued Congressional inaction. In a report released today by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA), hundreds of districts across the nation provided details describing what the cuts would look like in their district, reporting jobs cut, programs eliminated, and other negative impacts.
Nearly 400 responses from 42 states paint a dreary picture as it relates to the nation’s public schools and the sequester.

Deputy superintendent Ann Blakeney Clark of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg (NC) Schools and Harriet R. MacLean, Principal of James B. Davidson Middle School, San Rafael, Calif., today received the American Association of School Administrators’ 2013 Women in School Leadership Award.

Concetta Raimondi, 36 year veteran of public education and currently superintendent of Metropolitan School District of Lawrence Township, Indianapolis, Ind., will be honored by the American Association of School Administrators (AASA) and awarded the 2013 Dr. Effie H. Jones Humanitarian Award during the AASA National Conference on Education (NCE), Feb. 21-23 in Los Angeles, Calif.
