ASCD Selects Wash. Deputy Superintendent and Md. Teacher as 2013 Outstanding Young Educators

At ASCD's 68th Annual Conference and Exhibit Show in Chicago, Ill., Joshua Garcia, deputy superintendent of Tacoma Public Schools in Tacoma, Wash., and Ryan Twentey, a photography teacher at Parkville High School in Parkville, Md., were announced as winners of the association’s prestigious 2013 Outstanding Young Educator Award (OYEA).

High Schoolers Gain Skills from Robotics Competition

About 5,000 high school students from 207 teams in Michigan are expected to participate in this year's FIRST Robotics Competition. The teams build robots to compete against each other as they try to win a spot in the 64-team state championship, April 11-13 at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti.

Dr. Nola Wellman was named Superintendent of the Year by the Texas Computer Education Association (TCEA) Tuesday night, honored for her constant push to transform instruction to the needs and expectations of students in today's fast-paced, technology-rich environment. The award is presented to a superintendent who recognizes the importance of technology in the teaching and learning process and actively promotes the use of technology throughout the district.

Texas Students Compete in Technology Student Association Regionals

Porter High School (Texas) was host to the Regional Technology Student Association competition held March 1-2 between school districts in the region, including Bryan, College Station, and Conroe. Several students won at the regional level, and will now compete at TSA State Competition April 11-13 in Waco, Texas.
