The Tolland, CT school board gave the Tolland school district the go ahead to fill a Director of Educational Technology position at its Wednesday meeting. The full-time job, which is listed as a position under the teachers' contract and would be paid from the teacher salary account, would provide educational support information for several key initiatives.

The leader of Indiana's Senate Education Committee said Tuesday that Republicans shouldn't change the state schools superintendent position to one appointed by the governor following the election of a Democrat to that office. Republican Sen. Dennis Kruse said he would oppose any effort to make the job an appointed one, at least until incoming schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz's term expires in 2016.

The Liberty (N.Y.) Central School Board of Education has released the names of its two finalist candidates for the position of superintendent of schools. Finalist interviews are scheduled for the week of December 3.

Clayton and Fayette counties recently lost their school chiefs within a month of each other. Both outgoing superintendents met contentious ends to their tenures, and both were recently passed over for other jobs. Fayette Superintendent Jeff Bearden lost out on a similar job in Floyd County, and Clayton Superintendent Edmond Heatley made an unsuccessful bid for school chief of the Berkeley Unified District in California.
