The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) released the list of 2010-2011 Four Star Schools. Out of 1,780 public schools, 162 earned this distinction. Eleven of 238 non-public schools also received the honor this year.
Those who hold leadership roles within our schools must come to terms with the fact that standards, curriculum, instruction, assessments and accountability will only get you so far in improving student achievement.

Chicago Public Schools have signed a charter school compact agreement with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in an effort to increase funding for charters and improve collaboration between charter and neighborhood schools.

On the surface, having a college degree might seem to make getting and keeping a job more difficult in the current employment environment. Armed with a college degree, most people would expect to earn more than someone without a college degree. When jobs appear scarce, the lower-cost worker would seem to have an easier time finding a job.
