Sioux Falls (S.D.) school district superintendent Pam Homan has agreed to a 4.87 percent salary increase next school year, passing up an additional $6,592 increase tied to the new teacher agreement.

The Berkeley Unified School Board on Wednesday night formally appointed Donald Evans as the new Berkeley superintendent of schools by approving his contract. Evans, who was has been superintendent of the Hayward Unified School District for the past two years, will take up the position on July 1.

The Fresno County Board of Education trustees voted Thursday to appoint deputy superintendent Jim Yovino to serve as superintendent of schools until the end of the current term, which expires in December 2014.

The Ridgewood Local School District has named a new superintendent for the 2013-14 school year. The board voted to hire John Marks, current superintendent of Mapleton School District in Ashland. The vote was unanimous.
