Elementary and middle school principals from around the nation will put in sweat equity on Wed., July 10, to build an inclusive playground at a Baltimore elementary school during the National Association of Elementary School Principals’ (NAESP) fifth annual Community Service Day.

NASCAR racer Michael Waltrip will carry a special Sandy Hook School Support Fund paint scheme in the Feb. 24 Daytona 500. The tribute is part of a joint effort of the two-time Daytona 500 champion, Swan Racing, which will supply Waltrip the No. 26 car, and NASCAR to raise awareness and contributions for the fund.

Epson America, Inc. has announced a 2012 holiday season initiative to help teachers acquire much-needed classroom technology for enhancing student learning. Through the DonorsChoose.org "Double Your Impact Program," Epson will donate two percent of purchases sold on Epson.com between Dec. 1 and Dec. 24, 2012, up to $100,000.

A school district in southwestern Idaho is allowing the use of community volunteers as substitute teachers to help offset a $2.8 million budget shortfall.
